Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI)

Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is a therapeutic technique used in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy to treat children with motor delay by improving automatic postural responses and promoting progress towards developmental milestones.

The goal of DMI is to provoke a specified active motor response from the child in response to defined dynamic exercises prescribed by the therapist. This comprehensive intervention incorporates current research on neurorehabilitation, technologies, and methodologies. DMI stimulates neuroplasticity to facilitate new neuronal connections and development of motor milestones. (Information sourced from the DMI website at dmitherapy.com)

  • “Strive Pediatrics is truly exceptional! This was my first time with a practitioner like her, and I wish I had had her for my other two children”

Dr. Katie at Strive Pediatrics is truly exceptional! Her expertise in enhancing feeding, tongue mobility, strength, oral posture, and relieving body tension made a significant difference for our baby. This was my first time with a practitioner like her, and I wish I had had her for my other two children! I think she would’ve made a huge difference with so many nursing challenges!

  • “ If you’re not local in Austin I recommend trying virtually!”

Dr Katie is an exceptional therapist. I’m in a different city and I have been doing Virtual PT sessions for my son who has torticollis. Our sessions over the phone are great and she helps teaches me exercises and stretches to do at home. I used to take my kid to a therapist here in Houston but after being recommended Katie I have seen huge improvements in my sons torticolis and walking. If you’re not local in Austin I recommend trying her virtually!

  • “We have had the best experience at Strive and cannot recommend it enough.”

We have had the best experience at Strive and cannot recommend it enough. We sought out PT for our little one when he was not walking at 16 months old. Kayla spent time getting to know our little one and made him feel comfortable with her. Her approach of therapy helped our little one start walking within 4 sessions. Thank you Kayla for being an amazing support!

  • "To any parent who's unsure: you won't go wrong with Strive. They're the best."

Strive Pediatrics is hands down the premier PT and OT team in Texas—if not the entire U.S. We’ve had the privilege of working with them for our young child, and within just a few intensives, they helped him go from being immobile to crawling, walking, and even running. You can trust them completely. Every therapist on their team brings their own unique strengths, ensuring a deeply holistic and comprehensive approach to your child’s development. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Thank you, Strive, for everything you’ve done for our little one. We’re so grateful and can’t wait to continue working with you. To any parent who’s unsure: you won’t go wrong with Strive. They’re the best.
